Welcome to the Racquetball area. The Riverbend Club is host to 3 Racquetball Courts for your playing pleasure so whether you're new or old to the game, or just want to have a good workout, Racquetball is a great game to enjoy.

What exactly is Racquetball?

Well, it was founded by a man named Joe Sobek in 1951. He was looking for a fast-paced, indoor alternative to tennis with much fewer rules and since both of these attributes of the game were attractive, it quickly caught on. You could play racquetball come rain, shine or snow and the fact that it had few rules made it one of the easiest sports to learn. It's fast pace served to allow you to work up a sweat, burning the maximum amount of calories in the shortest amount of time while actually having fun, at least for those people who didn't include running in their list of top 'fun' things to do.

One of the benefits of racquetball is you can get a good cardio workout by yourself banging the ball around in the court. Racquetball tones your muscles and provides a high cardio workout. It's a lot more fun with a partner, but the workout is amazing either way.

It's never too late to pick up the sport. People as young as 5 years old are playing and people as old as 75 years are playing. If you have never played before you owe it to yourself to give it a try.

Riverbend Racquetball Leagues will begin Tuesday, October 5th from 5 pm to 9 pm. This League is for Intermediates and Beginners. Drop In Singles and Doubles will be on Thursday Evenings starting at 6 pm. Contact Jeff Sneyd at jpsneyd@yahoo.ca or Jon Seminuk at jons@nait.ca.
